If you’ve never heard of the Solomon Islands, you’re not alone.
Until now, the South Pacific country has remained largely off the radar for travelers. But at a time when consumer travel bucket lists are overflowing with untouched locales, the island nation is gearing up for its moment to step onto the tourism stage.
By the end of 2019, the country will have welcomed some 30,000 visitors to its shores, a number that destination officials hope will grow to 60,000 by 2025, according to Josefa “Jo” Tuamoto, CEO of Tourism Solomons.
