The Arnavon Community Marine Park is the Solomon Islands first declared nationally protected area. It covers land and sea area in the Manning Straits between Choiseul & Isabel provinces. The islands are home to the largest rookery of the critically endangered hawksbill turtles in the South Pacific region. The islands are largely uninhabited but there is a national marine park and research station based on Kerehikapa Island. The research station houses accommodation for guests wishing to view endangered Hawksbill Turtles in their natural habitat and learn about their conservation from the experts. There are 3 rooms (1 single and 2 twin/triple rooms) available. There is a shared bathroom facility and self-catering kitchen. Catering can also be organised for larger groups but must be arranged at least 1-2 weeks in advance. Local transportation by boat can be organised from Kagau (1 hr) or Suavanao (2.5 hrs)
Be immersed in the natural environment and unique flora and fauna in an idyllic setting. There is a range of paid activities that can be enjoyed such as the turtle rodeo, hatchling watching, snorkeling, and many more. Not an experience to be missed.
